UGC-NET June 2025: Applications Open, Check Important Dates and Details

New Delhi, April 18: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has officially announced the schedule for the UGC-NET June 2025 examination. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened the online application portal from April 16 to May 7, 2025, for candidates aspiring to qualify for the roles of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.
According to the latest update, the UGC-NET June 2025 exam is tentatively scheduled to be held between June 21 and June 30, 2025.

π Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in a Master's degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC.

Age Limit:

JRF: Not more than 30 years as of June 1, 2025. Relaxation of up to 5 years is provided to candidates belonging to OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and women applicants.

Assistant Professor: No upper age limit.

π Syllabus
-
Paper I: Common for all candidates; includes topics on teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness.

Paper II: Subject-specific; based on the subject selected by the candidate.

The UGC-NET is conducted twice a year, in June and December, for eligibility of Assistant Professorship and award of JRF. Candidates who have completed or are pursuing their postgraduate degrees in relevant subjects are eligible to apply.
Aspiring researchers and educators are encouraged to complete their application process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical glitches.
